WHAT CLIENTS SAY
In their own words.
"My father's will was drafted in 1998 and a great deal had changed since then. Razif reviewed it with care and produced a written note that helped me and my siblings understand, for the first time, exactly what the provisions meant and where they might cause difficulty. We did not feel rushed at any point."
Chin Teck Wah
George Town, Penang — March 2025
"I was appointed executor for my mother's estate and found myself quite unprepared for what the role involved. Sharmini explained everything clearly and in writing, and handled most of the bank correspondence herself. I felt supported rather than left to manage alone."
Priya Ramasamy
Butterworth, Penang — February 2025
"We wanted to set up a trust for our two younger children before my husband and I both turned sixty. Tze Ying met with us three times before any drafting began, which we appreciated. The document we signed is exactly what we intended. The pace of the whole process suited us."
Lena Hashim
Tanjung Bungah, Penang — January 2025
"I had used a general practice for my will when I was younger, and the experience had been impersonal. Engaging Lineage Foundry for the review was a different kind of conversation altogether. They were interested in the actual family situation, not just the paper."
Krishnamurthy Subramaniam
Bayan Lepas, Penang — March 2025
"The estate distribution took several months, as we expected it would. What we did not expect was how well the practice communicated throughout — a written update arrived without us needing to ask each time, and every step was explained before it was taken."
Ng Ik Seng
Georgetown, Penang — February 2025
"We came to Lineage Foundry because a colleague had mentioned them. The trust we drafted covers arrangements for my son, who has learning difficulties. Razif took a considerable amount of time to understand his circumstances and what we needed the trust to do. We found that thoughtful."
Fatimah Abdullah
Alor Setar, Kedah — January 2025
CASE STUDIES
Three engagements, in brief.
CASE — WILL REVIEW
The situation
A retired schoolteacher in her late sixties had written her will in 2004. Since then, she had remarried, two of the beneficiaries named in the will had predeceased her, and her property holdings had changed considerably.
The work
The review covered the existing document in full. The written note produced for the client identified three provisions that no longer operated as she had intended, and two that carried ambiguity which would have required a court to interpret.
The outcome
The client read the note over several weeks and discussed it with her daughter. She returned three months later to request a full redraft. She described the review as the most useful legal document she had ever received.
"For the first time I understood what I had actually written."
CASE — TRUST DRAFTING
The situation
A business owner and his wife had three children — two adults and one minor. They owned a shophouse in Penang that had been in the family since the 1960s and wished to ensure it was not sold in the event of their deaths.
The work
Two family meetings were held before drafting began. The trust was designed to hold the property for the benefit of all three children, with provisions for management and a mechanism for the beneficiaries to reach agreement before any sale could proceed.
The outcome
The trust was executed in December 2024. The clients noted that the family conversations facilitated during the drafting process had been useful in their own right, independent of the legal document produced.
"The meetings helped us understand what we each wanted, not just what the law required."
CASE — ESTATE DISTRIBUTION
The situation
A man in his early fifties was named sole executor for his father's estate. He lived in Kuala Lumpur, the estate was in Penang, and the assets included a property, three bank accounts, and a unit trust portfolio.
The work
The practice explained the duties of the role, assisted with applications to the relevant court, handled correspondence with each bank and the investment manager, and reviewed the distribution schedule with the executor before any transfers were made.
The outcome
Distribution was completed in approximately seven months. The executor commented that the written updates had made it easier to explain progress to his siblings, who had been anxious throughout.
"I could share the written updates with my siblings. That took a lot of pressure off me."
